A Healthy Start to the New Year

Because winter time is so hard to stay motivated to work out and eat healthy I've made a few changes to my typical workout and eating routine. Here are just a few of the highlights.

- A couple of ladies at my work and myself run a 3.5 mile loop during lunch on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

-Tuesday and Thursday I still do my Cardio Kickboxing class @ Fitness4Life. They also just started Zumba there as well on Tuesday and Thursday, but it doesn't start until 8:15 and I like to be done by then.

-I bring my lunch to work most days. Aside from saving money, I also eat a lot better. I'm not tempted to eat something I shouldn't.

-I keep a food journal. This seems a little stupid I know, but hey Carrie Underwood does it and she looks fantastic, so it's worth a try. It holds you accountable for what you eat.

-I eat 6 times a day. WHOA huh? If you know me, then you know how big of an adjustment that is. I used to get by on Coffee in the morning, lunch (if I needed it), and I usually ate a ton at dinner and felt horrible. Now I eat; Breakfask, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner. I also drink coffee in the morning and water all day. I never feel hungry, but I make myself eat to keep my metabolism going.

-I try my best to not eat carbs at night. Although, I do cheat sometimes. Like tonight I'll have brown rice (shhhh don't tell).

I hope to keep this up until at least summer time. The running at 12pm in the summer will not work for many reasons so that will have to be substituted.

Here's to a happy, healthy winter!
